The Admin Dashboard gets more functions
This update was focused on customization of the front-end website via the back-end Admin Dashboard. The dashboard has grown greatly and given way to new functions and features to enhance the end users experience with our content.
Growing Admin Dashboard
More buttons and functions have been added to the Admin Dashboard. Since there are so many possible functions on this page, all of the functions are folded into an expandable, accordion-style menu. Along with the functions available in the foldable menus are buttons to take you to more editing and posting functions such as editing the shop, editing all posts, and adding posts to chart watch. This will also be where all user, and transaction data will be displayed (in the future). This page (and all of the pages with it) perform 4 security checks overtime they are accessed to make sure that the user accessing it is an administrator. Still much to come in this section!
More Banner FunctionsEvery now and then, you might want to have the slide show on the home page change for one day (holidays and sales). To make it easier to change the banner for one day and then change it back, the “Use Previous” button has been added to the Admin Dashboard. When this button is pressed, it will display the dates of all of the previous banners and allow you to revert to a previous banner. This can also allow you to make a draft of a banner in preparation of a sale or event.
Change the ticker bannerMost websites always show the same tickers across every time the site is accessed. It is important to have the tickers/symbols on the home page reflect the tickers relevant to your content. Now you can change the tickers in the TradingView Ticker Banner widget in the Admin Dashboard for a more dynamic user experience.
CJ WatchlistNow it is possible to edit the TradingView Ticker widget from the admin Dashboard. This widget will act as the abridged version of the CJ Watchlist and displays on both the chart watch page (does not exist yet) and the home page. For added customization, you will now have the ability to click and drag each of the tickers to be what ever order you want as well as have the ability to delete and add as many as you like. These tickers will also appear as fully featured, real-time charts on the CJ Watchlist page along with a short description of the strategy that follows the decision to add it to the watchlist.
Featured PostsSometimes you want very specific posts to be the first thing the user sees rather than the most recent post. To do this, a featured post function has been added to the all posts page. To make a post a featured, go to all posts, find the post and click feature. As of right now, the featured posts are not shown anywhere, but in the near future they will be the first thing displayed on the home page. The featured posts will be limited to 5 posts and will act as a “our top 5 posts” section. Click and drag the featured posts to re-order them.
Editable Page ElementsAnother feature added to the dashboard is the ability to edit the header of a page. At the top of some of the pages will be a header (right above the posts) where you can enter your own content whether it is an image or some block text. It is also possible to add your own HTML to these sections.
User AccessA new user hierarchy has been established to determine where each user can and can not go on this site. There are now 5 types of users: guests, users, subscribers, contributors, and admins. Guests do not have an account and cannot leave comments or likes on any posts, however, they can use some of the various tools available on the site. Users have an account and can leave comments and likes on all posts. Subscribers have access to subscription content along with everything users have. Contributors can create and edit posts but can not make any changes to the site like delete posts, change banners, etc. Admins have access to everything and can change site content at will. With the addition of these user roles comes the 403 error page which let’s the user know that they do not have access to the page that they have requested.
The Next UpdateNow that many new functions are in place it is time to make the home page look the way it is supposed to look. The idea is illustrated below.

This is not set in stone, but it would be a start of a more welcoming landing page. All of the elements at the top of the page will remain the same, but instead of seeing the most recent news first the top 5 featured posts will be shown. Below that will be the most recent news, then an abbreviated chart watch section, followed by a small shop section. On the left side will be a few recent broadcasts followed by trending posts. On the right side will be ADs followed by the most recent investing posts. One thing to keep in mind is that posts refers to news, library, and investing articles, so any of these can be featured in the featured posts section. Also, our own advertisements will show have their own spaces on the site where pages, services, etc. can be advertised.
Small Fixes- Library categories now have their own page.
- Corporate reports has been moved to Investing.
- Reports has been removed from the navbar and replaced with Broadcasts.
- You can now delete comments.
